Kit Murphy Update Letter 6/19/19

Dear CASBA members,

I hope this letter finds you enjoying the start of summer!  As I finalize the 2018 Kit Murphy Scholarship program, I wanted to take a moment to recap you on the scholarship fund.

This was our 26th anniversary and more than $280,000 has been contributed by our members and friends.  In the last 12 months, we’ve received 9 donations totaling $22,750.  Thirty-nine scholarships were awarded in Kit’s name this spring.  We awarded $10,200 in scholarships this year, up from the $6,650 awarded in 2017.

This year, the scholarship fund had 52 applicants from 6 member companies.  As you may recall, to be eligible for the Kit Murphy Memorial Scholarship, the applicant must be an employee or immediate family member of an employee of a CASBA member’s company. As of the end of 2018, CASBA had 27 active members.   That means that 22% of our association’s membership had an applicant apply for a Kit Murphy Scholarship.   That is an increase of 7% from the prior year.

As the cost of higher education continues to rise, the Kit Murphy Memorial Scholarship Fund has helped countless individuals pursue their dreams of higher education.  As we prepare to gather together at Pinehurst in October for the 50th Anniversary meeting of CASBA,I hope you will consider volunteering on the scholarship committee and/or sponsoring a golf hole for $150 to help support the Kit Murphy Scholarship Fund.  Information on the convention, golf hole sponsorships and general convention sponsorships will be coming soon.  Until then, I hope you have a wonderful summer!

All the best,

Kit Murphy Update Letter 04/19/19

Dear CASBA members,

I hope this letter finds you well.  As I wrap up the 2018 Kit Murphy Scholarship program, I wanted to take a moment to update you on the scholarship fund and the awards made.

This is our 26th anniversary, thanks to the generosity of many.  So far, more than $280,000 has been contributed by our members and friends.  Kit was an active member and leader of our association for many years. The untimely passing of this young man on June 22, 1992 touched many.  It was truly the loss of a great friend of our industry and this association.

I wanted to update you on good news regarding Kit’s legacy.  Thirty-nine scholarships were awarded in Kit’s name this year.  We had 52 applicants from 6 member companies. We awarded $10,200 in scholarships this year, up from the $6,650 awarded in 2017.

As the cost of higher education continues to rise, the Kit Murphy Memorial Scholarship Fund has helped countless individuals pursue their dreams of higher education.  As we prepare to gather together at Pinehurst in October for the 50th Anniversary meeting of CASBA, I hope you will consider a hole sponsorship of $150 to help support the Kit Murphy Scholarship Fund.  Information on the convention, hole sponsorships and general convention sponsorships will be coming soon.  Until then, I hope you have a wonderful Spring.

All the best,
